The healthy volcanic earth of Tuscia is perfect for farming. Hilly landscapes provide a thriving natural environment for olives, vineyards, and nut trees.
Thousands of years ago, the land was lush with minerals and metals for making tools of iron, copper, and bronze; perfect for folks living in the early stages of the iron age.
Situated between the Tiber and Arno rivers, and leading straight into the Mediterranean Sea, naval trade was booming. Pottery, wine, grain, pine nuts, and olives grown by the Etruscans would ship globally. Not a whole lot has changed, come to think of it.
Much of the Etruscan and Roman architecture left behind still informs the structures of today’s Italy. Tuscia’s major cities and towns have all been built on the foundations laid by our regional ancestors thousands of years ago.
